* 1971 -- It was reported that Sunnyside's Vic Maling, a Mid-Valley Gun Club member, won the Telephonic Trapshoot the previous weekend, scoring 48 out of a possible 50.

* 1964 -- New WSU head football coach Bert Clark hired King Block as an assistant coach. Block had been an assistant for Orange Bowl champion Nebraska. A former all-coast fullback at Idaho, Block was Arkansas State's head coach for three years before becoming the Cornhuskers' defensive line coach.

* 1964 -- Central Music, led by Julia Eldredge's 644 series, bolstered its lead in the Richland Women's Major League by firing a new high team series of 2,686.
