* 2009 -- Jake McKinney rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown, and B.K. Robinson added 112 yards rushing and three TDs as Richland beat Rogers of Spokane 47-15 in a season-ending nonleague crossover game at Fran Rish Stadium.

* 2003 -- Swedish rookie Marcus Jonasen was named the Tri-City Americans' team captain by head coach Don Nachbaur. It was the first time a European player had been named a captain for a Western Hockey League team.

* 1979 -- Columbia Basin College linebacker Tom Haberman and Kennewick High School cross country runner Brad Webber were named this week's Columbia Basin Sportswriters and Broadcasters athletes of the week. Haberman blocked a field goal and a point-after-touchdown kick to help preserve the Hawks' 13-12 win over Spokane. Webber tied the Franklin Park course record at the district championships meet.

* 1959 -- Garrold Sadler scored three touchdowns, and Ed Craig, Rick Pulsevich and Lester Blair each had one TD as Prosser defeated Mabton 38-0. Prosser totaled 304 yards rushing.
