MADISON, Ind. -- Steve David, Dave Villwock and J.W. Myers each won heats on the first day of competition at the Lucas Oil Indiana Governor's Cup in Madision, Ind., on Saturday.
David averaged 141.106 mph in the U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto to win Heat 1A's three-lap heat.
"We have had two perfect days here in Madison, our heat win today and top qualifier yesterday. Now we have our heats (today) and the final and I hope we can bring the home town the trophy," David said.
Villwock drove the U-96 Spirit of Qatar to an easy win in Heat 1B, and Myers -- in the U-37 Miss Peters & May -- won Heat 1C when his two opponents (U-100 did not start; U-17 gearbox failure) failed to complete the race.
