CARACAS, Venezuela -- Richland's Natalie Leyland was 0-for-3 for Great Britain in a 3-0 loss to China at the World Softball Championships in Caracas, Venezuela.
Leyland, who signed with Seattle University in the fall, batted second and played left field.
China pitcher Lin Su Hua allowed just five hits in a complete-game shutout.
Pitcher Eileen Canney made her first appearance for the United States, leading the Americans past New Zealand 12-2 for their second straight win.
