Overstreet leads Dust Devils past Boise
The middle of the order got it done for the Tri-City Dust Devils Sunday night as the team continued its strong start out of the all-star break with a 5-1 win over the Boise Hawks at Gesa Stadium
G.K. Young, Kyle Overstreet and Boomer White — Tri-City’s 4-5-6 hitters — all had multi-hit games and scored a run for the Dust Devils (4-6, second half).
Overstreet opened the scoring in the fourth with a one-out single to left that scored Chris Baker, who had just stolen second and third. Overstreet’s second hit of the night came in the four-run sixth inning when he knocked in Young from second to make it 3-0.
Boise (4-6) was never able to figure out Tri-City starter Jordan Guerrero (4-4), who gave up just two hits and a walk in his five shutout innings.
Dust Devil starters have not allowed a run in the four games since the Northwest League All-Star break ended, a streak of 14 2/3 innings. Tri-City is 3-1 in those games.
Having already clinched the five-game series, the Dust Devils will wrap up their set with the Hawks at 7:15 p.m. Monday, then will continue their home stand with a three-game series against the Spokane Indians.
