Northwest League: Tri-City Dust Devils hold off Everett 3-1
Tri-City kept its spot at the top of the Northwest League’s North division on Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the Everett AquaSox at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.
The win — the Dust Devils’ sixth in a row — gave them their third consecutive series win.
Everett (9-7) got on the board first in the top of the sixth inning as Nick Zammarelli scored on an Aldemar Burgos sacrifice fly.
Tri-City (11-5) answered back in the bottom half of the sixth as Chris Baker scored on a Chris Mattison single. The Dust Devils took the lead one batter later as Mason Smith’s single scored Boomer White for a 2-1 lead.
Tri-City added one more run in the bottom of the eighth when Luis Asuncion scored on a Nate Easley single to left field.
The Dust Devils were in position to break the game open a couple of times, but left 11 men stranded on base.
Emmanuel Ramirez picked up his second win, pitching six innings. He scattered seven hits and struck out three. Aaron Cressley earned his third save.
The AquaSox ran into a bit of trouble in the bottom of the seventh when second baseman Johmbeyker Morales was ejected, followed by the ejection of Everett manager Rob Mummau.
Tri-City will host Everett at 7:15 p.m. Sunday in the final game of the series.
The Dust Devils then will play a five-game series at Hillsboro, followed by a three-game series at Vancouver.
