Dust Devils fall again to Spokane Indians
Another slow start doomed the Tri-City Dust Devils on Tuesday night at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.
The Dust Devils mustered three hits and lost to Spokane 8-3, dropping their second game in a row to the Indians.
Tri-City right-hander Braxton Lorenzini (0-1) exited the game after giving up five earned runs in the second inning. It was the second consecutive night that Spokane led 5-0 after two innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the third, Alan Garcia singled in a run and then came home on Taylor Kohlwey’s two-run single to pull Tri-City (2-3) to within 5-3. But the rally was short-lived, as Spokane scored once in the sixth and twice in the eighth.
Mark Vasquez (1-0), who pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, earned the win for Spokane (3-2).
The Dust Devils were unable to capitalize on 11 walks. Tri-City left 13 runners on base.
The teams will conclude their three-game Northwest League series at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Gesa Stadium.
