Mason Smith slugged a two-out, two-run double to cap Tri-City’s rally in the sixth inning, and the Dust Devils held on for a 5-4 win over the host Everett AquaSox in Northwest League baseball Thursday night.
The Dust Devils went up 2-1 in the second inning on Jose Carlos Urena’s solo homer and Smith’s RBI single. Everett scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth against Tri-City starter Walker Lockett, who gave up five hits and three runs in five innings of work.
The Dust Devils rallied in the top of the sixth as Ty France and Carlos Belen drew back-to-back walks to lead off the inning. Urena singled to load the bases, and Austin Allen drove in one run with a sacrifice fly before Smith doubled to center.
Everett answered back with a run in the bottom of the inning off reliever Trevor Megill, who followed with a scoreless seventh before Phil Maton threw two perfect innings for his third save.
