A night after shutting out the Hillsboro Hops, the Tri-City Dust Devils appeared dangerously close to experiencing a goose egg of their own.
But the Dust Devils avoided disaster Saturday night with a huge eighth inning and went on to beat the Hops 6-3 at Gesa Stadium.
Nate Robertson broke a scoreless tie with a leadoff homer in the fifth for the Hops, who were coming off a 10-3 loss to the Dust Devils on Thursday and a 9-0 defeat Friday.
In the bottom of the eighth, Hops reliever Cameron Gann allowed three consecutive hits to start the inning.

Gann plunked Ty France to bring in the tying run.
After Carlos Belen struck out, Jose Carlos Urena hit a two-run single to center, and Austin Allen followed with a single to bring home France.
Urena came home on a wild pitch, and Nick Vilter capped the scoring with an RBI double to make it 6-1.
Gann was then pulled for Troy Marks.
The Hops came back to score two in the ninth, but they were unable to pull out their second victory of the five-game series.
The teams will wrap up their series at 1:15 p.m. today at Gesa Stadium.
