Ryan Garvey has heard all the heroic stories about his famous father Steve Garvey, a 10-time National League All-Star.
Thursday in Hillsboro, he got to be the hero for the Tri-City Dust Devils, driving in both runs in a 2-1 win over the Hops at Ron Tonkin Stadium.
With the Dust Devils trailing 1-0, Garvey hit a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning, tying the score. Then he came up in the top of the seventh with Josh Fuentes on first and lined a double to left center field which scored Fuentes.
John Sheehan (1-0) picked up his first pro win for Tri-City.
