The Tri-City Dust Devils had no hits through four innings against Vancouver but caught up with a vengeance in a 9-3 win over the Canadians on Wednesday at Gesa Stadium.
Down 3-0 after five innings, Francisco Sosa hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to pull Tri-City within a run.
But the Dust Devils exploded for seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, sending 12 batters to the plate. Kyle Von Tungeln tripled to bring in Patrick Hutcheson, who finished with three hits, and Rosell Herrera then singled to score Von Tungeln to give Tri-City a 4-3 lead.
Hutcheson had two hits during the seventh, but it was a two-run single by Matt Argyropoulos — immediately followed by a run-scoring throwing error by Canadians’ right fielder Carlos Ramirez — that broke open the game.
