Dust Devils lose 3-2 to Yakima Bears

A day after opening a road trip in Yakima with a win, the Tri-City Dust Devils weren’t able to sustain their momentum, falling 3-2 to the Yakima Bears on Wednesday night.

The Bears took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning off right-hander Benjamin Hughes (2-4).

Tri-City got two runs back in the sixth with RBI singles by Tom Murphy and Derek Jones, but the Dust Devils could not catch the Bears in the end.

Hughes allowed seven hits and struck out three in six innings, while Murphy finished with two hits for the Dust Devils (2-6).

Tri-City trails Yakima (4-4) by two games in the Northwest League’s East Division and first-place Boise (6-2) by four.

The Dust Devils will be back at County Stadium today for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Bears.
