The Tri-City Dust Devils suffered their seventh loss in eight games, falling 7-5 to the Spokane Indians on Wednesday night at Avista Stadium.
Adding to the pain, the Yakima Bears (20-13) clinched the Northwest League East Division first-half title with an 8-4 victory against the Boise Hawks.
Kyle Von Tungeln scored Robert De La Cruz on a sacrifice fly in the second inning to give Tri-City (14-19) a 2-1 lead, but Spokane wasn’t down for long.
In the bottom half, Cam Schiller scored on a Saquan Johnson triple, and Johnson came home on Josh Slaats’ wild pitch for the go-ahead run. Christopher Garia put Spokane (11-22) up 4-2 when he scored on a single by Royce Bolinger.
The Dust Devils return to Gesa Stadium tonight for a five-game series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
