SPOKANE -- Trever Adams had a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Spokane Indians a 5-4 victory over the visiting Tri-City Dust Devils at Avista Stadium on Thursday night.
The victory gives Spokane sole possession of first place in the East Division of the Northwest League with a 19-15 record.
Tri-City is one game back at 18-16.
The Dust Devils spotted the Indians a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth when Hirotoshi Onaka's sacrifice fly to center field scored Drew Robinson.
But Tri-City took a 3-1 lead in the seventh.
Jared Simon and Leonardo Reyes both singled, and Jayson Langfels followed with a three-run homer to right field.
Spokane bounced back in the bottom half of the inning, as Onaka singled to score Robinson, then Jorge Alfaro scored when Devils second baseman Timothy Smalling had a throwing error on the play.
The Indians took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Adams scored from third on a Robinson sacrifice fly.
But again, the Dust Devils rallied in the top of the ninth, scoring a run to tie it at 4-all when Reyes hit his first home run of the season over the left field wall.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Dust Devils sent Rhett Ballard out to the mound.
After he struck out the first batter, Ballard hit Zachary Cone and Brett Nicholas in consecutive at-bats.
Adams then followed with a single to right, scoring the winning run.
The two teams meet again at 6:30 p.m. today in Spokane.
