Hanford spikers sweep their way to 3-0 start

RICHLAND -- Nikki Eldred had 12 kills and five blocks and Suzi Davison 30 assists to lead the Hanford Falcons to a sweep of the visiting Pasco Bulldogs 25-19, 25-11, 25-9 on Tuesday.

The Falcons improved to 3-0 in the CBBN 3A and haved dropped just a single game along the way.

Marisol Diaz had a busy night for the Bulldogs with 26 digs. Sierra Linke added six kills and 10 digs.

Elise Simunds and Nicole Umlauf combined for 19 digs for Hanford in an all-around performance that pleased coach Carrie Antonovich.

"We moved our feet really well, got to the ball," she said. "Finally, our back row got some digs.

"We're coming together. All the pieces are catching some momentum."

The Falcons will need plenty of momentum going into Thursday's match at West Valley.

WEST VALLEY 3, KAMIAKIN 1

Alexis Scott had an excellent night, going 24-for-24 serving with three aces and 19 digs, but the host Braves couldn't overcome their CBBN 3A rival.

After handing West Valley its first set loss in league play this season, Kamiakin fell behind 24-17 in the fourth set. The Braves weren't about to call it a night, however, racking up four consecutive points.

Unfortunately for Kamiakin (1-2 league), its momentum was halted.

"We were serving, and we just pushed the ball a little too far outside, and it went out of bounds," Kamiakin coach Mary Opitz said. "So it was heartbreaking."

Kamiakin awaits the status of Amanda Miller, who sprained her ankle in the third set.

Kensey Mix had four kills, five aces and two blocks to help Southridge sweep visiting Sunnyside 25-13, 25-5, 25-16 in a CBBN 3A volleyball contest.

The Riverhawks swept the Chiefs on the road in CBBN 4A action.

Shanita Hill had 16 kills and 10 digs for Chiawana (3-0, 7-1). Sadie Nielsen led Moses Lake (0-2 league) with 16 kills.

The Bombers opened big and then won two of three close games to close out the CBBN 4A match.

The Blue Devils (3-3, 0-2) got 21 digs from Tianna Cummings. Torri Crawford led the team in kills (11).

Karissa Flores and Becca Niemeyer combined for 17 kills on the day as Prosser survived a loss in the third set to claim a nonleague home victory against Toppenish.
