A stout defensive effort led Hanford to a 3-0 Mid-Columbia Conference victory Tuesday over visiting Chiawana in boys soccer action.

Led by the play of Kelly Smith and Kyle McMurrich, the Falcons slowed the Riverhawks’ strong attack, holding them to just one shot.

“We did a really good job in the midfield and in the back,” Hanford coach Mike Pardini said. “They had some good players. Chiawana is a pretty dangerous team and I thought we did a good job handling the pressure.”

Jacob Thiel made one save in goal for the win.
