Quadrel, Hanford edge Kamiakin in shootout

KENNEWICK -- Deanna Quadrel scored off an assist from Collette Gall in the 32nd minute and then led the assault in the shootout as Hanford posted a 2-1 CBBN 3A girls soccer victory over Kamiakin at Lampson Stadium on Tuesday night.

Quadrel combined forces with Sydney Shintaffer, Bailey Ruby and Savanna Steele to outscore the Braves 4-2 in the shootout.

Kyra Brannan scored for Kamiakin off an assist from Chandra Stevenson in the 57th minute to knot the game at 1-1, and Taylor Shutzenhofer and Stevenson connected for the Braves in the shootout.

"The defense stepped up pretty good in this game," Hanford assistant coach Glen Ledgerwood said. "Heather Baddley and Kendall Riddelle both played exceptional in the back and our goalie (Emily Busselman) made some big saves, made a really nice one in the shootout, as well."

Busselman had 11 saves in the match, and Kamiakin goalie Sydnee Grant recorded three.

"I think that Hanford was well coached," Braves coach Chris Erickson said in a nod to Falcons coach Mart Oostrum. "Mart did a great job trying to play against our strengths."

Abby Buckenberger had a goal and two assists as the Bulldogs took 39 shots, including 33 on goal in the CBBN 3A home victory.

Karissa Shifflet made 28 saves for Kennewick.

Heather Johnson scored twice for Southridge in a CBBN 3A home win over Eastmont.

Richland 1, Wenatchee 0 (SO)

Andes Archibald, Kirsten Calmus and Yesenia Alvarado scored as Richland outscored Wenatchee 3-1 in a shootout to take the victory in a CBBN 4A contest at Bomber Field.

"It was one of those games that shouldn't have been a nailbiter," said Richland coach Sara Elfering, who noted that the Bombers had 27 shots on goal in the game. "You're thinking 'One of these shots has to go in!' Their backup goalkeeper did a really good job, because we couldn't get anything to find the back of the net."

Jackie Rollinger had 20 saves for the Panthers, and Shelby Long had four saves for Richland.

Connell's Marcy Hawkins scored an unassisted goal in the 88th minute as the Eagles pulled out an SCAC 1A victory in a double overtime over host Royal.
