KENNEWICK -- Pride will be the only consequential outcome on the line tonight at Lampson Stadium when the Kennewick Lions take on the Pasco Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. in a Thursday Night Football showdown.
No. 10 Kennewick (7-1, 5-1) locked up the CBBN 3A's No. 2 berth to regionals with last week's 35-7 victory against Southridge, showing a clear gulf between the Lions and No. 4 Kamiakin Braves, and the rest of the field.
Meanwhile, Pasco (0-8, 0-6) seeks its first win. This is the last chance to get it in the regular season -- the Bulldogs will have a 10th game next week among the six teams not seeded into the nonadvancement games.
Pasco came close last week, getting out in front against West Valley before the Rams rallied to win 28-20. This week, junior quarterback Sean McNiel and sophomore running back Clifton Lozano Jr. will be up against the league's top-ranked defense in yards and points allowed.
Kennewick, coming off a 294-yard rushing game, now faces a Pasco defense that gave up that same rushing total to West Valley last week.
NOTE: Reggie Clinton's 8-yard touchdown catch last week for Kennewick was mistakenly credited to another player. It was his sixth TD catch of the season, ranking in the top 10 in the CBBN 3A for points scored.
