Early leads made the difference for the Southridge Suns in their Mid-Columbia Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday.

Southridge’s four-run first inning in Game 1 and a tiebreaking third-inning run in the second helped the host Suns secure a 6-4 and 2-1 sweep of Kamiakin.

Lane Hailey and Ethan Sanders each drove in two runs in the opener for Southridge, which led 4-2 after the first inning and stayed ahead the rest of the game.

In the nightcap, Ryan Sanders went 2-for-2 and knocked in both runs to lead the Suns (11-3, 6-2).

Southridge’s Matthew Oldham pitched all seven innings of Game 2, allowing four hits and striking out three.

Mike Jones was 4-for-6 on the day for Kamiakin (8-6, 4-4).
