Volleyball roundup for Sept. 26: Southridge finishes 3-1 at La Grande Invite

The Southridge volleyball team went 3-1 at the La Grande (Ore.) Invite, falling 25-22, 18-25, 15-10 to Weston-McEwen in Saturday’s final.

Makenna Behrens had a strong day for Southridge, recording 35 kills, 45 digs and 12 aces in four matches. Maddisen McNeill chipped in 21 kills, 10 blocks and nine service aces.

“We started slow (against Weston-McEwen). We made some unforced errors and couldn’t recover,” Suns coach John Lengphounpraseut said. “I saw some good things we can improve upon, but the mental part of the game, we have to do better.”

TRI-CITIES PREP 3, LIND-RITZVILLE/SPRAGUE 0: Danika Whitsett was perfect from the service line with nine aces, and Hannah Jilek had five kills and 17 digs as the Jaguars beat the Broncos in straight sets in a nonleague match in Ritzville.
