Kennewick tops Pasco 63-32

Angelique Whistocken had 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Kim Harrod contributed 17 points and six rebounds to lead Kennewick to a 63-32 win over Pasco at the Lions Den in the CBBN 3A opener for both teams.

Kennewick coach Tarah Staton says her team has the fire to succeed this year.

"We had a really good summer together, and the girls, we're just one year older," Staton said. "We had six sophomores last year, and they're all juniors. We lost just one senior, and the kids are taking responsibility for their individual game."

EASTMONT 48, HANFORD 40: Colette Gall scored a game-high 14 points for the Falcons in their CBBN 3A opener, but they couldn't overcome a fourth quarter in which the host Wildcats went 10-of-14 from the free-throw line.

"My girls fought really, really hard," said Hanford coach Evan Woodward, whose team led with 21/2 minutes remaining before Eastmont rallied. "They just couldn't close it out."

Shaeanna Jones led the Wildcats with nine points and eight rebounds.
