Chiawana falls to Central Valley 63-43 (w/ gallery)

The Chiawana girls basketball team fell behind early and never was able to catch up, losing 63-43 to Central Valley on Saturday at Chiawana.

Central Valley, a Spokane-area school, jumped out to a 21-13 lead after the first quarter to remain undefeated on the season at 3-0.

Delaney Hodgins scored 17 points to lead Chiawana, while Danielle Loving added 16 points.

The loss ends a two-game winning streak for the Riverhawks (3-2), who are coming off a third-place finish at state last season.

Senior Sadie Sparks was held to three points for Chiawana.

Kennewick 60, Richland 42: Angelique Whistocken had 22 points for Kennewick, Anna Croskrey had 12 points for Richland and the Lions won a nonleague road game against the Bombers.

"Kennewick played a really good game," Richland coach Cindy McCoy said. "They had us unsettled. It was hard to get into a flow, lots of defensive pressure."
