Leavitt feeds Lions on road

The Kennewick boys improved to 2-0, notching a 71-63 nonleague road win Saturday at Walla Walla thanks to another big effort by Bryce Leavitt.

The Lions' 6-foot-4 senior collected 29 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and six steals. He also helped ignite a key 18-2 run in the third quarter that gave Kennewick a comfortable cushion.

"Leavitt shoots the ball pretty well, and he penetrates. He went to the free throw line 15 times," said Blue Devils coach John Golden. "They've got a lot of weapons."

Josh Eggers led Walla Walla with 16 points and helped the Blue Devils scrap back to within five points in the fourth quarter. But the Lions were able to hold on.

"We're happy to get the win on the road. There's nothing easy about winning in Walla Walla," Kennewick coach Bradyn Leyde said. "We're looking forward to coming back home."
