LC, Touchet boys seasons come to an end

RICHLAND -- Jake Siefken did everything in his power to extend the Liberty Christian boys basketball season.

It wasn't enough, though, as Walla Walla Valley Academy held off the Patriots 84-78 in overtime in a Southeast 2B district tournament play-in game Tuesday.

Siefken scored 36 points -- his third consecutive game with at least 34 points -- pulled down six rebounds, had seven steals and four assists.

"It was a back and forth game all night," Patriots coach Terry Watson said.

Siefken sent the game to overtime with a game-tying free throw in regulation, but the Knights (9-9 overall) outscored the Patriots 14-8 in overtime.

Daniel Loneland led WWVA with 28 points.

Bryan Corrigan added 21 points and 19 rebounds for the Patriots.

The Knights will play at Waitsburg-Prescott at 6 p.m. today in a first-round game.
