Season ends for Kennewick, Moses Lake boys

WALLA WALLA -- Matt Watson had a sizable double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds for host Walla Walla and teammate Seth Alden measured out seven assists on top of his game-high 16 points as the Blue Devils removed Moses Lake from further CBBN 4A district tournament contention with a 49-34 win.

Matt Franz had 14 points to lead the Chiefs' attack and Bryce Perez added nine points and 10 rebounds.

"Defensively, I thought we played well," said Walla Walla coach John Golden, who also noted his team had a 35-32 edge in rebounding.

West Valley 68, Kennewick 62

KENNEWICK -- Bryce Leavitt's 31 points did double duty as both a game and career high, but the Lions couldn't overcome its 19-9 first quarter deficit and lost to the Rams in a CBBN 3A loser-out contest.

"We came out a bit sluggish," said Lions coach Bradyn Leyde adding that his team soon "picked it up", outscoring the Rams 38-30 in the second half.

"Basically, West Valley did a nice job converting inside," Leyde said.

Leavitt also pulled down seven boards and dished out six assists in the contest.
