Othello closes boys season on high note

EPHRATA -- Drew Scott led a furious rally as Othello closed its season with a 59-57 road victory against Ephrata.

Scott had 21 points and 16 rebounds and hit the tie-breaking shot late for Othello.

Tony Vela helped keep the Greyhounds' perfect season alive with a near triple-double for the home team.

Vela finished with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Daniel Nielsen added 27 points and Christian Schrank had 14 points and 11 rebounds for Grandview.

Cristian Aguilar had 21 points for Kiona-Benton and the Bears keyed an 1A SCAC East road victory over Wahluke with a 19-5 third-quarter rally.

With Connell's loss to Mabton, the Bears are now in third place in the SCAC East standings.

Mabton's 5-foot-7 duo of Jesus Huecias and Kristian Carrasco came up huge against visiting Connell, and the Vikings improved to 11-0 in the 1A SCAC East.

Huecias scored eight of his career-high 17 points in the fourth quarter and went 8-for-9 from the line. He also had five assists.

Carrasco scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half.

Matt Hadley scored 14 points for Connell.

The Knights rallied past host River View with a big second half, in the Panthers' season finale.

Neither team will advance to the SCAC tournament next week.

Royal outscored River View 30-19 in the second half, taking their only lead of the game on a Neil Leitz putback with 2.4 seconds left in the game.
