Chiawana boys keep title hopes alive

YAKIMA -- Chiawana led wire-to-wire to keep alive its chances for a CBBN 4A title, defeating host Eisenhower 75-46 on Friday.

Chiawana is tied with Davis atop the standings. Both have one game left in the regular season.

Buddy Walter and Miquiyah Zamora scored 15 points each to lead the visiting Riverhawks. Tanner Urlacher's 13 led Eisenhower.

"The kids played focused, and now we are focusing on Walla Walla," Chiawana coach Chad Herron said, referring to tonight's game.

A furious rally fell short for Richland on the road.

The Bombers couldn't overcome a 59-36 deficit after three quarters, despite outscoring Davis by 12 in the fourth.

Adam Baker's 18 points led Richland, while Calvin Douglas added 10 points and nine rebounds.

Jackson Marquis' 19 points led Davis.

The Grizzlies used a big first half to run away from the visiting Bulldogs.

Israel Manzo scored 22 points to lead Sunnyside, which outscored Pasco 36-20 in the first two quarters.

Brandon Search's 16 points led the Bulldogs.

Matt Mendenhall and Derek Porter made sure the Suns kept their chances at the No. 2 seed in next week's CBBN 3A district tournament alive with a home victory against Kennewick.

Mendenhall scored 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while Porter had 17 points and seven rebounds.

Bryce Leavitt led Kennewick with 19 points.
