Grandview girls lock up playoff berth

GRANDVIEW -- After blowing a big first-half lead, the Grandview Greyhounds held on to defeat Ellensburg to lock up the final playoff berth for the CWAC district tournament next week.

Grandview defeated Ellensburg 62-58 on Friday to close the regular season with a victory.

The Greyhounds led by 12 at halftime but were outscored 15-4 in the third quarter.

Marissa Caballero led all scorers with 21 points, while Payton Parrish added 18 points and nine rebounds. Gabby Montelongo added three points and nine assists.

Shannon Bland's 19 points led Ellensburg, which sits in fourth place.

Melissa Gutierrez had 16 points and five assists. Maci Whitby's 14 points led Connell.

If Columbia-Burbank defeats Royal tonight, the Panthers and Coyotes will have a tie-breaker game Tuesday for the final spot in the SCAC tournament next weekend.
