Burbank boys lock up 2nd in SCAC

BURBANK -- Columbia-Burbank locked up the No. 2 seed in the SCAC East standings Saturday with a 40-37 victory against visiting River View.

The Coyotes can finish with no more than five losses in league play, and they hold tie-breakers with both Kiona-Benton and Connell.

On Saturday, a strong defensive effort in the fourth quarter sent the Coyotes on their way.

"(River View) had seven 3-pointers in the first half," Columbia-Burbank coach D.J. Traver said. "A little ball pressure and we covered the shooters a little better in the second half."

Columbia-Burbank outscored River View 10-3 in the fourth quarter, as Nathan Roberts had six points and Angel Garcia four. Roberts finished with 15 points for the game.

Justin Grow's 16 points led River View.

Cristian Aguilar collected 13 of his game-high 20 points in overtime -- accounting for all of Kiona-Benton's OT scoring -- and the Bears defeated visiting Connell.

Matt Hadley led Connell's attack with 15 points, and the Eagles' Kraymer Eppich had 13 points and tied the game in regulation at 46-46 with a jumper from the elbow.

Liberty Christian's Jake Siefken went 6-for-12 from the 3-point line en route to a game-high 27 points to lead the Patriots to a Southeast 2B victory against visiting Tri-Cities Prep.

Bryan Corrigan hauled down 15 rebounds to set a Liberty Christian single-season record of 240 rebounds in the victory.

Jameson Pederson's 11 points led the Jaguars.
