Mabton boys clinch SCAC East title

ROYAL CITY -- Kristian Carrasco scored 29 points as Mabton (14-3, 9-0) beat host Royal (7-9, 3-5) by a score of 61-57 to clinch the SCAC East title -- its first since winning the Greater Columbia League (Class B) in 1996.

"It feels pretty good after coming into a new league and not knowing the teams quite as well," Vikings coach Brock Ledgerwood said.

Neil Leitz finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds for Royal.

The Coyotes held off the visiting Eagles in an SCAC East showdown.

Tanner Wood scored a game-high 17 points for Burbank, while Matt Hadley's 11 points led Connell.

RICHLAND -- Bryan Corrigan had a game-high 16 points and pulled down 20 rebounds -- his second game with 20 boards this year -- to lift Liberty Christian to a home win over Walla Walla Valley Academy.

Jake Siefken and Mike Olson combined for 26 points and 10 assists, and Siefken added nine steals.

"We played really good defense. We've worked on it the last couple days," Patriots coach Terry Watson said.
