Kirkwood's 38 points leads Othello girls to first win

OTHELLO -- Christine Kirkwood had a monster game Saturday to help Othello win its first game of the season.

Kirkwood poured in 38 points, pulled down 22 rebounds and had six assists to lead the Huskies to a 76-61 CWAC home victory against Toppenish.

"The girls played hard," Othello coach Laurie Stickel said. "They've played hard the past couple of weeks. It's been close and it's nice to be on the other side."

Tayshia Hunt edged Tamara Jones by aa point to take game-high honors as the Prosser pair combined for 37 to lead the Mustangs to a CWAC 2A road win over Selah.

A big second half helped the Red Devils remain in second place in the CWAC, winning at Grandview.

East Valley trailed 22-19 at halftime, but outscored Grandview 18-10 in the third quarter.

Payton Parrish's 13 points led Grandview.
