River View girls upset Ki-Be 50-42

FINLEY -- A concerted defensive effort helped the Panthers knock off first-place SCAC East foe Kiona-Benton 50-42 in girls basketball Saturday.

"Two good teams, a hard-fought game and we just sneaked out a win, really," River View coach Bruce Moore said. "Our defense has really carried us this year. We work hard on defense and we run a lot of different matchups to try and keep our opponents off balance and we did a good job of that tonight."

Mallory Smith's 15 points led River View, while Yesenia Torres' 11 led the Bears.

"We never scrimmaged the entire week. We just ran out of gas," Dunham said.
