Schroeder leads Ki-Be to road win at Connell

CONNELL -- Bailey Schroeder made a game-winning free throw with 1 second left Tuesday to lead Kiona-Benton to a 40-39 SCAC 1A East victory at Connell.

The win moves the Bears into sole possession of first place.

Schroeder finished with 10 points, while Cierra Torp added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Brooke Gibbons' 13 points and eight rebounds led Connell. Maci Whitby added eight points and nine rebounds.

Kim Gier led River View with 15 points, but Haley Hess and Demi McGill got things started during an 18-8 first-quarter advantage as the Panthers held off Columbia Burbank for the SCAC East home win.

Hess hit a pair of 3-pointers and McGill converted three offensive putbacks in the first quarter to give River View a comfortable cushion.

Katie Breazeale led the Coyotes with 16 points.
