Chiawana defeats Davis for first place

YAKIMA -- The Chiawana boys took over the outright CBBN 4A lead with a huge 80-74 road win Saturday over Davis, getting a big scoring effort from Justin Smith for the second straight night.

Smith netted 28 points after going off for 44 in a win over Richland on Friday. Jordan Downing and Buddy Walter combined for 33 points.

"Any time you get a road win in the CBBN is huge, especially going into Davis," said Riverhawks coach Chad Herron. "As the game went on our defense got better and better. In the fourth quarter we forced them into some shots they normally wouldn't take, and we corralled the rebounds and made free throws."

Michael Burke had 12 points for Richland, Tyrell Turner and Bob Imhoff added 10 points apiece and the Bombers built a waterproof 50-30 halftime lead to cruise to an easy win over Eisenhower in a CBBN 4A contest.

Case Rada and Tyler Holle rallied the Braves past the Lions in CBBN 3A play Saturday.

Rada and Holle both hit key 3-pointers and made their free throws down the stretch as Kamiakin erased a 32-30 deficit in the road victory.

Israel Manzo led all scorers with 25 points and was the only Grizzlies player with more than six points.

Trea Thomas led three Eastmont players in double figures with 16 points.
