Bombers hold off Falcons late charge

RICHLAND -- Grant Gallinger scored 17 points and Colter Quick and Calvin Douglas combined for 22 as host Richland survived Hanford's second-half rally to win a nonleague contest 55-50 on Tuesday at Art Dawald Gym.

The Bombers needed almost every bit of the 14-point advantage they built in the first half as the Falcons outscored Richland 32-23 after the break.

Bombers coach Earl Streufert credited Gallinger's 15 first-half points for saving the day.

"That was the story of the game, basically," Streufert said.

Post Falls 76, Chiawana 62

Jordan Downing had a team-high 22 points for Chiawana while Buddy Walter and Justin Smith combined for 24 points in the paint, but the Riverhawks still suffered a loss to Post Falls at the Holiday Inn Express Tournament at North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene.

"We battled the entire way," Chiawana coach Chad Herron said. "We had it cut to 4 with two minutes left; had a couple of shots that would've cut it to 1, but they didn't fall for us and (Post Falls) ended up getting a three-point play to go up 7 with a minute-and a-half left. And that was the nail in the coffin."

Marcus Colber led the Post Falls attack with 25 points.

The Riverhawks will go up against Coeur d'Alene at 5:30 p.m. today and will play Lake City at 4 p.m. Thursday.
