Boys hoops: Liberty Christian reaches state semis

SPOKANE -- Jake Siefken scored a game-high 19 points, and Liberty Christian beat Chief Leschi 58-41 in the Class 2B boys state tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

Bryan Corrigan had 13 and Brett Dustin added 12 for Liberty Christian (20-2).

"It comes down to execution and doing the little things," said LC coach Terry Watson, whose team didn't finish until after 10:30 p.m. "It's strictly business up here. The kids are taking it one game at a time and do the things we need to do to be successful. It's gets easier to play each night -- it's better than 9 in the morning."

The game was decided when the Patriots started the fourth quarter on a 10-0 run, after holding the Warriors to five third-quarter points.

Nate Bisson led Chief Leschi (15-5) with 10 points, 15 rebound.

Drew Curry had 7 points in the fourth quarter to open up a close game from start to finish as Life Christian Academy (13-10) put away Waitsburg-Prescott (14-8) in a loser-out game.

Curry had 12 points in the game, while Jordan King led four Eagles in double figures with 18.

Zach Bartlow had 13 points and 7 rebounds for the Cardinals.
