Harding scores 19 in LC's state-opening loss

SPOKANE -- Kelsey Harding's 19 points weren't enough to carry Liberty Christian (14-10) over Northwest Christian (21-3), as the Lacey school cruised to a 45-32 victory in the first round of the state tournament.

"She hit everything she shot and carried us there for awhile," LC coach Steve Dunham said. "We struggled a little bit but came back in the second half and played really well."

Hannah Berges added eight points for the Patriots, who will play a consolation bracket game with Evergreen Lutheran at 10:30 a.m today.

SPOKANE -- Caitlin Duncan poured in 31 points for DeSales, but the Irish couldn't overcome a 31-20 halftime deficit and lost to the defending state champions.

DeSales (19-6) will play a consolation contest with Orcas Island at 12:30 p.m. today.
