CBBN boys: No. 7 Richland dispatches Chiawana

RICHLAND -- No. 7 Richland made sure there would be no playoff for second place in the CBBN Cascade, taking control in the third quarter at Art Dawald Gym and clinching the No. 2 district seed with an 80-51 win over visiting Chiawana.

Mike Dunford had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Calvin Douglas added 17 points and 10 boards for the Bombers, who outrebounded Chiawana 43-25.

"The third quarter was the turning point. We just defended them real well and stretched the lead out," said Richland coach Earl Streufert, whose team entertains Wenatchee at 7 p.m. Friday to avoid a conflict with the regional wrestling tournament Saturday.

Miquiyah Zamora scored a game-high 22 points for Chiawana, which finished on a five-game losing streak.
