CBBN girls: Wa-Hi stuns No. 3 Chiawana

WALLA WALLA -- Jamie Weisner scored 10 of her 14 points in the fourth quarter to help the Walla Walla girls pull away for a 40-29 CBBN Cascade victory over third-ranked Chiawana on Saturday night.

Weisner sat much of the third quarter with foul trouble, but she attacked the basket in the fourth, going 10-for-12 at the free throw line as Wa-Hi extended upon a 21-19 lead.

"We were able to survive Jamie being out because of our defense," said Wa-Hi coach Jill Meliah. "If we play stellar defense, we can be in any game, and we proved that tonight."

Mikaela Rivard led Chiawana with 15 points, but the Riverhawks' second-leading scorer, Hayley Hodgins, went scoreless as they saw their 11-game win streak snapped.
