CBBN boys: Wa-Hi clinches tie for league title

WALLA WALLA -- Michael Weisner and Gary Winston combined for 47 points as No. 5 Walla Walla beat visiting Chiawana 71-60 to clinch at least a tie for its first league championship since 1999.

The Riverhawks led 18-17 after one quarter and trailed just 36-32 at halftime, but Weisner and Winston hit back-to-back 3-pointers to open the third quarter and spark a 25-12 run.

CHIAWANA -- Justin Smith 19, Graff, Knight 5, Walter 6, DeWitt 3, Downing 10, Zamora 10, Lopaya 7. Totals 18-44 18-24 60.

WALLA WALLA -- Michael Weisner 25, Winston 22, Aguiar 9, Crawford, Porter, Arias 11, Maddess, James, Alden, Watson 2, Sumerlin 2. Totals 27-49 8-10 71.

KENNEWICK -- Kennewick sophomore Reggie Clinton scored a career-high 24 points in a CBBN Columbia rout of Moses Lake at the Lions Den.

The win assures the Lions of at least a playoff for the division's final district berth. They clinch the No. 4 seed with a win Tuesday over Southridge or an ML loss to Davis.

KENNEWICK -- Derek Porter had 20 points as Southridge handed Davis its first CBBN Columbia loss of the season in Kennewick.
