CBBN boys: Wa-Hi gets past Kamiakin in 2 OTs

WALLA WALLA -- Gary Winston scored eight of his game-high 30 points in the second overtime Friday night to lift No. 5 Walla Walla to a 77-75 double-overtime over No. 8 Kamiakin in CBBN Cascade action.

Seth Alden hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in regulation for Walla Walla to tie the game at 57 and force overtime.

Michael Weisner nearly won the game for the Blue Devils in the first overtime, connecting on a 70-footer that was ruled to have come just after the buzzer. He finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Winston scored 25 points after halftime.

Justin Pedley led Kamiakin with 24 points, while Tyler Holle added 23.

The Braves, who won the first meeting between the teams in Kennewick, are 2-3 since starting the season 9-0.

RICHLAND -- Garrett Gallinger scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the first half, staking Richland to a 44-26 halftime lead in a CBBN Cascade win over Hanford at Art Dawald Gym.

Gallinger and Tanner Dunn each had great starts for the third-ranked Bombers offensively, as Dunn hit three first-half 3-pointers on the way to 14 points.

"(Gallinger and Dunn) got us out to a good early lead, and we just continued to extend it," said Richland coach Earl Streufert. "We did a good job passing. We shared the ball well."

Aaron Neary led the Falcons with 15 points and seven rebounds. Hanford hosts "Pink Night" tonight, wearing pink jerseys against West Valley to raise awareness for breast cancer.

PASCO -- Justin Smith scored 31 points for Chiawana, canning 6 of 8 3-pointers, but the Riverhawks' 1-for-6 performance at the free-throw line in the final minute proved costly in the CBBN Cascade contest in Pasco.

Chiawana led 71-65 with 1:21 left before going into a nose dive, including committing a crucial turnover in the last 25 seconds. The Riverhawks had been 19-of-24 at the foul line before the late collapse.

KENNEWICK -- Bryce Leavitt hit a pair of shots down the stretch and scored a game-high 16 points as Kennewick held off Pasco in CBBN Columbia play at the Lions Den, denying the Bulldogs their first win of the season.

DeVaunte Wright-Lamb and Steven Ponce scored 11 points each for Pasco, which led 23-22 at halftime.
