CBBN girls: Hanford loses star Hughes, beats Eastmont

RICHLAND -- Hanford felt the sting of losing Laura Hughes to an injury early in the first quarter, but the Falcons came on strong late, outscoring Eastmont 20-2 in the fourth quarter in a 41-34 CBBN Cascade Division home win.

Hanford coach Evan Woodward couldn't expand on the extent or nature of Hughes' injury.

"I can't say anything, because I don't know. All I can say is she wasn't allowed to return to play," he said. "It took us awhile to adjust to her not being out there, but we turned on the defensive pressure in the fourth."
