Warden boys stun Connell 46-44

WARDEN -- Arty Reyes banked a short jumper off the glass -- his only two points of the game -- off an assist from Eric Bates with seven seconds left to break a 44-all tie and give Warden its first-ever victory over Connell.

"(Reyes) just got back from (a family vacation in) Mexico, so he went 2,000 miles to make that basket," said Cougars coach Wes Richins, a Warden graduate. "Our home court was a rockin' place."

Bates and Nathan Brown combined for 34 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Cougars to the SCAC East win.

Matt Hadley scored 14 points to lead the Eagles, who shot just 15 percent (3-for-20) in the second half.
