The Mid-Columbia Athletes of the Week for May 7, 2009.


Taylor Dickey, Sr., Richland

He won the No. 2 boys singles title at the Inland Empire tournament, beating Alex Hattamer of Gonzaga Prep in the finals.

Track and Field

Robert Jessop, Sr., Kennewick

He won the pole vault and 200 and took second in the triple jump to help the Lions win their first league dual in three years.


Doris Lupercio, Sr., Grandview

She went 7-for-8 with seven RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Wapato that clinched a CWAC district berth for the Greyhounds.


Samson Martinez, Fr., Pasco

He was the top area finisher at the Inland Empire tourney, shooting an even-par 72 at Spokane Country Club to tie for second.


Mynor Maza, Sr., Prosser

In wins over Wapato, Toppenish and East Valley, he had six goals and an assist to help Prosser wrap up the CWAC South title.


Tyler Roberts, Sr., Southridge

He went 7-for-9 with 2 doubles and a triple against Sunnyside and Kennewick. He finished the season batting a CBBN-best .651.
