The Mid-Columbia Athletes of the Week for April 2, 2009.

Baseball

Travis Chalk, Sr., Hanford

He belted two homers and drove in five runs in a victory over Eisenhower; had three HRs, eight hits and nine RBIs in four games.



Soccer

Eddie Mendoza, Sr., Pasco

He set a school record with four assists in a 5-0 win over West Valley, then scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Roosevelt.



Softball

Eden Garza, Jr., Othello

Left-hander had a no-hitter vs. Quincy and a one-hitter vs. Wapato; in Game 2, she had two triples, a homer and 8 RBIs.



Golf

Drew Reinland, Jr., Walla Walla

He shot a 2-over 74 at Apple Tree to tie for medalist honors at the Central Washington Invite and was sixth at an All-CBBN meet.



Track & Field

Shaniae Lakes, Sr., Richland

She broke the school record in the triple jump twice -- first at a four-team CBBN meet, then going 38-8 at the Holder Relays.



Tennis

Ali Welch, Jr., Kamiakin

She won two singles matches -- at No. 1 over Sunnyside's Sasha Castro and at No. 2 over Moses Lake's Rachel Hofstetter.
