The Mid-Columbia Athletes of the Week for October 17, 2008.

Volleyball

Elizabeth Clark, Sr., Southridge

She had 50 kills and 18 blocks as the Suns took fifth at the Crossover Classic; also had 11 kills and four blocks in a win over Kennewick.

Cross Country

Erin Hegarty, Soph., Hanford

She finished seventh at the Richland Invite in 18 minutes, 56 seconds to lead the Falcons to a seventh-place finish in the team standings.



Swimming

Katie Smoot, Jr., Southridge

She won the CBBN 11-dive meet in Moses Lake with a state-qualifying total of 358.90, then won the Tri-Cities Championships title.



Soccer

Maci Whitby, Soph., Connell

She held league-leading La Salle to just three goals in an SCAC defeat, then posted her seventh shutout, 1-0 over Naches Valley.



Football

Kody Winsor, Sr., Hanford

He ran for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns and also made 14 tackles at linebacker in the Falcons' 35-28 road win over Eastmont.
