The Columbia Basin College women beat Chemeketa 53-44 on Monday at the Toyota Center in the semifinals of the NWAACC basketball tournament at the Toyota Center, earning the Hawks a berth in the championship game.
CBC will play the winner between Yakima Valley and Walla Walla at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday for the title. The Hawks appeared in the NWAACC championship in 2005 and 2008, winning both times.
The game was tied at 40 with 6:40 remaining before CBC went on a 9-0 run and won it going away.
Jennifer Noon scored on an offensive putback and then added a 3-pointer to spark the run. Other highlights during the run included a key bucket by Lacey Young and Tiffany Idler’s driving scoop layin.
