CBC women 18-0 after win in Spokane

SPOKANE -- The Columbia Basin College women's basketball team trailed by 10 points at halftime Saturday to the host Spokane Sasquatch.

Normally in any other year, that might be too much for the Hawks to overcome for a victory.

But not this season.

And CBC rallied to outscore Spokane 45-29 in the second half for a 79-73 NWAACC East Region victory.

The Hawks have yet to get a blemish on their record. They are now 7-0 in East Region play and 18-0 overall.

Spokane, 6-0 in East play entering the game, falls to 6-1 and 16-3.

The Hawks scored 20 points off 17 Sasquatch turnovers and had four players in double figures.

Columbia-Burbank graduate Tiffany Idler paced CBC with 21 points, while Lauren Walker added 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Ana Jimenez had 14 points for the Hawks, while Trishi Williams added 13 points and nine assists.

Brooke Randall led Spokane with 31 points, and Korrie Bourn added 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Walla Walla women 79, Big Bend 38

Sienna Edmunson scored 16 points and Alex Pfefferle added 14 as visiting Walla Walla routed Big Bend in an East Region game.

CBC men 77, Spokane 74

Mitchell Jones Jr. scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Columbia Basin College men to a tough East Region road victory at Spokane.

Daniel Igbinoba, from nearby Cheney, got a rare start and came up with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jordon Poynor, from Mount Spokane, added 15 points, while Austin Wassmuth had 13 for the Hawks.

Danny Marshall paced the Sasquatch with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Ben Olayinka scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead host Big Bend over Walla Walla in an East Region game.

Blake Skidmore added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Vikings.

Aaron Corsi paced the Warriors with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
