Jade Redmon scored on a layup with 0.4 seconds remaining to lift Eastern Washington to a 67-65 win over Washington State in their Women's National Invitation Tournament opener Wednesday night in Pullman.
Former Chiawana High School standout Hayley Hodgins scored 12 points, and her younger sister Delaney had nine for the Eagles (21-11). EWU will face Pacific or Sacramento State in the second round.
The Cougars, who made their second consecutive WNIT appearance, ended their season with a 17-15 record.
Lia Galdeira led WSU with 31 points. She also had six rebounds, six steals and three assists.
