East falls to West 3-2 in WCL All-Star Game

Caleb Whalen (Corvallis Knights) doubled with two outs in the seventh inning for the tiebreaking run, and Colin Feldtman (Kitsap BlueJackets) fanned four hitters to defend the lead as the West Division edged the East 3-2 in the West Coast League All-Star Game on Tuesday at Borleske Stadium.

The East scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, but the West answered in the fifth. Klamath Falls’ Tanner Nielsen came home on an error, and Corvallis’ Connor Hofmann scored on a groundout by Cowlitz’s Austin Diemer.

Walla Walla’s Arturo Reyes pitched a scoreless fourth for the East, but the West’s pitchers dominated the night with 14 strikeouts.

The MLB Scouting Bureau selected Hofmann as MVP and named Walla Walla’s Hunter Virant and Cowlitz’s Taylor Williams the WCL’s top prospects.
